JustRiteStampers Challenge

Wow. I can't believe it has been 6 months since I last blogged. I have been making cards but I just have not taken the time to blog.

Well, I decided to participate in the latest JustRite Stampers Challenge, a colour challenge which is a stretch for me because I am once again in AZ and working with limited supplies.

Here is the challenge picture:

And here is my take on the challenge:

The coloured cardstock is Bazzil and the white is Stampin' Up! I just got the French Rose Background stamp the other day and was happy to have an excuse to use it.

I stamped it on the white c/s using Memento Black ink, then coloured it with a Marvy marker and highlighted it with a Sakura yellow glaze pen. These were the only yellow ink products I had in the house. I also applied the marker to a sponge to add more yellow to the background and to the sentiment.

Likewise, I applied some London fog grey Memento ink to another sponge and sponged the background. Then I noticed that I had grey on some of the flowers that I wanted to leave white, so I used a white gel pen to fix them and brighten them up.

I die cut everything using a combination of Labels 8 and Decor Labels 8 (Spellbinders). Some of the layers were applied with foam dimensionals. Finally, I added some pearl swirls.

I have added this update to show the inside of my card. I love a properly finished inside. Here I layered some of the grey c/s and a strip of white stamped and coloured to match the front. Between the two, I attached a yellow border die cut with a die from Spellbinder's 'Antique Frame and Accents'.

I know this is not a true take on the colour combination, but it is the closest I could come with what I had on hand. I hope you like it.
