I've Got the Blues - and Greens

Good morning everyone. Again today, I have created a couple of cards using a single page of the Heartfelt Creations patterned paper and, like last time, these cards fell together. The collection I choose my paper from for this post is called 'Sunny Day'.

On the first card, I used a corner of the paper that had a leafy spray printed on it. I matted it with a dark green card stock and mounted it all on a 5x6 1/2 inch white card base.

Next, I cut two dies in the same green card stock using the Decorative Chateau Gate Die. I cut off the bottom half of each die cut and then placed them end to end to create an oval backing for my sentiment.

The sentiment is from a page of printed sentiments at the back of the pack of paper. This is another reason I love these paper collections by HFC. If you are on a tight time schedule and need to push out a quick card, you don't even have to pull out the stamps and ink. A few quick cuts and some glue and you have a finished product.

There are also two pages of ATC sized labels that you can use to stamp your own sentiment on.

Do you get the feeling that I am partial to HFC's papers?

Okay, so I cut, trimmed, and corner-rounded one of the sentiment labels that matched the paper and adhered it to the green die cut I created in the previous step.

Using all the little floral dies from the Layered Scalloped Posy Die, I cut ten little flowers from white card stock, sponged on a bit of yellow ink, added an orange center with a Marvey Marker, and attached five of them to the front of the card.

The other five went on the inside of the card, on top of a strip of the patterned paper and two die cut leafy branches from the Chateau Gate die set used above.

On the second card, I cut a square of patterned paper from the same piece of paper, but from an area where there was very little design showing. This was glued on to a 6x6 inch mat of dark green card stock, and then to a white card base.

I used the die from the Bella Rose die set, and a lighter green card stock to create my leafy spray die cut. Then, while it was still in the die, I sponged on some Tim Holtz forest moss ink to give the leaves a bit of depth. I attached it to the card front and added a bunch more little posies with glue dots.

The frame for the sentiment was cut using the Spellbinders decor labels eight set and the dark green c/s. Layered on top is another of the pre-printed sentiment labels with rounded corners.

The inside of this card is the same as the previous one, so I did not take a picture of it.

Usually, the design process is what takes me the longest when creating, but that has not been the case for these last two post. I have a feeling I will be using up these papers very quickly!

Heart Felt Happiness

Today, I am featuring products from Heartfelt Creations. I am a big fan of this company's line. I love helping out at the HFC booth in Mesa every spring and fall. I have been doing it for 3 years now.

I just finished a stint last weekend and came away with lots of new goodies including three packs of their designer paper. These papers are gorgeous; heavy weight, and two-sided. They match so beautifully with HFC stamps, and best of all, the second side is just lightly patterned and coordinating so you don't have to choose which side to feature. It allows for lots of design options.

There are two cards in today's post, and I made them both from only one sheet of patterned paper with one small exception. Using the HFC papers as the starting point, these cards almost fell together.

On the first card, I used the upper right corner of the paper, attached it to a
5 1/2 x 7 inch ivory card base, and added a corner die cut from a heavy metallic bronze card stock using the Decorative Blossom Corner Die. From the flip side of the patterned paper, I stamped and die cut Open Vintage Florets in several smaller sizes. Then I used Tim Holtz Faded Jeans ink and a sponge to add some depth to the florets. I shaped them using the Paper Blossoms Tool Kit and Mat, and adhered them to the floral spray in the paper design with glue dots.

I die cut two sizes of the Spellbinders Labels Four dies, one from each side of the patterned paper. The larger one got the sponged ink treatment while still in the die. On the smaller yellow one, I stamped the sentiment from Melodious Songbird stamp set. After gluing these two layers together, I put them onto the card with foam squares. Then I added more of the florets and finally, I put some pearls into the center of the flowers.

On the inside, the sentiment is from the Bold Vintage Floret Background stamp set. I should add here that I used Memories black dye ink for all the stamping here. More florets, this time with centres made using Rangers Enamel Accents. This keeps the inside flat so that it can be closed without damaging anything.

On to card two.

Same piece of paper, but cut from the lower left corner. (It is just my photography that makes the colours so different looking.) This time, before I did anything else, I cut around the butterfly wings with a craft blade, leaving them attached at the body. Then, I shaped them slightly and glued a rectangle of the patterned paper to the back to cover the hole where the wings were cut out. Now, the whole thing could be attached to the card base. Here is a side view showing the dimension in the card.

I die cut two scroll medallions from the same bronze card stock using a die from the Timeless Amour die set and attached them to the card end to end. I also made a die cut using SB's Lables 13. Here is where I went to a second piece of the patterned paper, still from the same pack so that I could match the lilac shades of the butterfly. A bit of Tim Holtz Dusty Concorde ink was sponged on; then I stamped the words (the same stamp I used above) individually on the label with Color Box Cats Eye black. Some foam squares were used to adhere the label to the centre of the double die.

A few more shaped florets (the same ones as card one) were added and then I added several sized half pearls to label, florets, and butterfly.

The inside is almost the same as card one, but I only used the bottom half of the sentiment stamp.

I hope I showcased how easy it is to use this great paper. I had great fun creating these cards because it was really so easy.

Second time around

I decided to have a second go at the Just Rite Colour Challenge. Yellow is such a bright fun colour that I wanted a card to match.

I was in Michaels and came across these fun plaid and polka dot papers (Recollections) that were perfect for a fun take on the challenge. Then I found this cute floral ribbon in Hobby Lobby to match.

The cardstock is the same Bazzil paper that I used in the previous entry. I used Stampin'Up! dies to cut the medallions and the stamps are, of course, Just Rite - For All You Do. I stamped the frame with craft white ink and heat embossed in white. The words were stamped with Memories grey ink.

The white bow is Stampin'Up! satin ribbon and the bright little flower was something I had in my stash. This card puts a smile on my face.

A late addition to this post - again, I wanted to show the inside. I think the inside should be pretty as well. Here all I did was attach a 1" strip of the plaid paper horizontally, then layer a vertical length of the floral ribbon. Simple but effective.
